Taj Burrow is a well-known Australian surfer, born June 2, 1978 in Western Australia at Yallingup to Vance and Nancy Burrow.
He began surfing at the age of seven in 1985 and discovered he was regular footed. He worked hard and began to win contests several years later, becoming recognized as a grom. He went professional in 1998, and has since been recognized as one of the best surfers in the world, even entering into the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame.

He has written a book (Taj Burrows Book of Hot Surfing) and has produced his own surf videos, such as Taj Burrow's Fair Blits. He is said to be one of the most advanced surfers that has not won a world title. It has been rumored that Taj and Andy Irons are working on being able to do an aerial. In a recent interview in spring 2006, Taj said his top goal was not to win a world title but to further himself and the surfing world. Taj's favourite surfers are New Zealanders Butch And Wang who he looks to for inspiration.

In 2007, Burrow won the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach. He backed up this win with a stellar performance at the Billabong Pro in Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa where he claimed the title over 8 times ASP mens world champion, Kelly Slater. This win boosting him to second on the ASP Men's Tour ratings. He did not win the world title this year (2007), much to the disappointment of many, but remains one of the strongest threats to Mick Fanning's crown for next year.

Vijay Khurana has since superseded Taj as the recognised leader in the professional surf circuit in teaching underprivileged children how to surf. Taj and Vijay, though, remain good friends.
