The ABU DHABI ADVENTURE CHALLENGE is a adventure race in teams of 4, racing over 6 consecutive days in Emirate of ABU DHABI Disciplines are: Sea Kayaking, Camel Hiking, Cross Orienteering, Mountain Biking, Adventure Running, Rope Activities, In Line Skating.

  • Race dates: 12-17 December, 2008.
  • Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.Camels

[edit] Team size

A team consists of 4 competitors (no Assistance crew). Assistance is done by the organization. Teams must be mixed

[edit] Adventure Running and Cross Orienteering

  • Running over varying terrain following a compulsory signposted itinerary.
  • Running over varying terrain searching for a maximum of CP in a time limit.
  • Progression on foot through the Mountain

Two competitors in each team must be capable of orienteering in natural surroundings. At least one competitor has to be able to use a GPS for navigation/orienteering.

[edit] Sea Kayaking

Progression using rigid sea-kayaks with sail supplied by the Organisation. Compulsory to use a kayak paddle (two blades). The sea kayak have a sail system, you can use the wind for traction except if the wind blow to strong. The instructions to use the sail will be given by the organisation on the checking You may use personal paddles, but cannot use your personal sea-kayaks and your personnal sail.

Progression on foot through the desert with 1 or 2 camels per team. (tbc) Camel can be ride and use to transport your gear. Two competitors in each team must be capable of orienteering in natural surroundings. At least one competitor has to be able to use a GPS for navigation/orienteering.

[edit] Mountain Biking

Progression on mountain bike in different terrains . The competitors must provide their own bikes and are responsible for solving any mechanical problems. When using roads open to traffic, competitors must comply with the traffic laws of the host country. Helmets must be worn fastened. A team may use any, or number of bikes during the race.

  • Abseiling
  • Flying Fox
  • Cable Bridge
  • Fixed Ropes ascending
  • Climbing
  • Via Ferrata

Helmet and harness must be worn fastened.

[edit] Inline skating

Progress on inline skates on an asphalt road. A team may use any type or number of skates during a race. Sticks are forbidden
